SOME THINGS GROW IN THE SHADE AND OTHERS GROW IN THE LIGHT

Some plants need it to be fully in the sun to grow, while others grow in the shade. Remember this when it comes to the garden of your life. Not every part of your story was meant to bloom in the same way.

There are some parts of your story that will bloom out in the sun. Maybe it’s a dream you have for your community or your family that you’re starting to share with others. Maybe it’s a relationship that has been slowly blooming, and you’re starting to feel more comfortable with being more open about this part of your story.

And there are flowers that might bloom right now. Perhaps these are the questions and doubts you’re only sharing with your therapist right now. Or maybe it’s the vision or the prayer for the future kept sacred in your journal.

It’s not always easy to know on the surface level which flowers were meant to grow in the shade and which flowers were meant to grow in the sun, but through time, practice, research, and the support of others, we can learn.

Pay attention to how you feel sharing certain dreams out in the open. Do you feel excited and energized by the feedback, or do you feel a little hesitant? Perhaps the former is a sign that maybe, it’s time to share this dream more. The latter might be an indicator that maybe, this is one of those flowers that grow in the shade.

There is room for all kinds of growth in this garden called life. Some plants grow in the shade while others need full sunshine. Remember this when you feel like your story is all over the place. Maybe what feels scattered are actually just seeds spread around the garden, growing at their own pace, in their own space.

More tomorrow…
